DisplayMe does not ship its own hardware or an app. The player is a web page that runs in the browser of the Samsung or LG commercial TV you already own.
What runs on the TV
One web page (/tv) and one service worker for offline caching. No software is installed, and no firmware is changed.
The TV’s own operating system, boot security and storage encryption are those of the TV manufacturer (Samsung Tizen / LG webOS). DisplayMe does not add to or weaken them.
Network
Outbound only. The TV calls DisplayMe over HTTPS (about every 30 seconds). It listens on no port, so nothing on the internet can connect to it.
All content is delivered over HTTPS. Pages are served with a strict Content-Security-Policy.
Only your own content is shown: the player plays what your organization scheduled for that store.
Pairing and identity
A new TV shows a short-lived setup code and QR. An admin enters it to attach the TV to a store; unpaired screens show no store content.
Each TV keeps a random device ID. An admin can remove a device at any time, after which it returns to the setup screen.
Optional pairing PIN to stop unknown people from adding screens.
Offline behaviour
The player caches schedule and media in the TV’s browser storage so a store keeps playing if the internet drops. Cached files are your own content, and are replaced or deleted as the schedule changes.
Not offered today
No Verified boot, signed player updates or hardware-backed storage encryption of our own: we rely on the TV’s platform.
No Remote device management or MDM. Treat the TV’s own settings menu like any other device: set a PIN and lock the settings.
Tip for stores: set the TV’s settings PIN, disable unused inputs, keep the TV firmware updated, and put signage TVs on a separate network or VLAN.
